Nitin Nabin Leads Padyatras in Bhagalpur and Kolkata on Monday
The BJP president plans two back-to-back marches in Bihar and West Bengal, a day after a sharp attack on Congress over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin will walk two 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' padyatras on Monday, one in Bhagalpur, Bihar, and one in Kolkata, West Bengal. Both are part of the party's nationwide campaign against what it calls Opposition misinformation and organised anarchy.
Here is the schedule. In Bhagalpur, the march starts at 11:00 AM from Lajpat Park and ends at Seva Jyoti Chowk at 12:30 PM. Nabin then heads to Kolkata, where the second padyatra begins at 3:00 PM on College Street and finishes at Dharmatala at 5:30 PM.
According to an official party release, the campaign aims to take the BJP's message to villages and households. Workers are being asked to counter what the party describes as lies and fabricated narratives. Senior leaders, state BJP presidents and thousands of karyakartas are expected to join the Monday marches.
The events follow a Sunday padyatra in Rohtak, Haryana. There, Nabin addressed a crowd at D-Park in Model Town after a march from Chhotu Ram Polytechnic Ground. He paid homage at a statue of Mahatma Gandhi before speaking.
In his speech, Nabin criticised Rahul Gandhi and the Congress over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He said the party should have apologised to the Sikh community instead of joining Opposition protests on the anniversary. He also referred to a remark attributed to Rahul Gandhi's father about a big tree falling. He accused Congress of attacking democratic institutions while presenting itself as a defender of the Constitution.
Why it matters: the two-state schedule shows the BJP wants its message heard on the ground, not just in Delhi. Expect the 1984 argument and the 'save democracy' counter-claims to keep shaping the political back-and-forth.
