Fiberweb India Profit Jumps 366% as Quarterly Sales Rebound From Q1 Slump
The Mumbai-based nonwoven fabric maker reported a sharp sequential recovery for July-September, though its results still trail the same quarter last year.

Fiberweb (India) Limited, the Mumbai-based maker of spunbond and melt-blown nonwoven fabrics, posted a sharp sequential rebound in its unaudited results for the second quarter of FY27. Total income climbed to ₹30.99 crore, more than triple the ₹10.02 crore it recorded in the first quarter, a jump of about 209%. Net profit rose to ₹1.27 crore, up roughly 366% from the previous quarter.
The numbers look dramatic because the first quarter was weak. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at ₹3.31 crore, up nearly 77% quarter on quarter. The company's profit margin reached 4.11%, improving by 138 basis points, and earnings per share rose to ₹0.44. For a small-cap manufacturer, a quarter that bounces this hard signals that orders and production have picked up again.
Not everything is back on track, though. Management acknowledged that the quarter still lags the same period a year earlier. Chairman-level commentary pointed to a competitive market, where selling prices are under pressure and input costs have squeezed margins. The company linked part of that pressure to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which has added uncertainty to global supply chains and raw material costs.
To explain why this matters, it helps to know what Fiberweb makes. Nonwoven fabrics are the unglamorous material found in surgical masks, hospital gowns, air and liquid filters, crop covers and car covers. Demand tends to be steady, but pricing can swing quickly when competitors add capacity or when raw material prices move. That is why management is talking about a product mix shift toward specialised and value-added items rather than commodity grades.
The company is also looking ahead. It plans to expand into non-woven felted products for the geo-textile segment, which is used in road building, drainage and soil stabilisation. Management says the focus will be on capital efficiency and niche applications, along with better capacity utilisation and stronger ties with domestic and export buyers. Fiberweb exports to markets including the USA, UK, Europe, UAE, South Africa and Australia.
For context, the company reported total income of ₹86.13 crore, EBITDA of ₹18.82 crore and profit after tax of ₹10.01 crore for FY26. The company has described itself as long-term debt-free, a rare position that gives it room to invest without heavy borrowing. Investors should keep in mind that these are unaudited quarterly figures, and the company itself warns that forward-looking statements carry risks from government action, economic shifts and technology changes.
