Haryana to Hold Special Assembly Session on Constitution Day, Nov 26
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini says the state will convene the House on November 26 as part of Constitution Fortnight, while he also trades jabs with Punjab's AAP government.

Haryana will hold a special session of its state assembly on November 26, which is Constitution Day. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made the announcement on Tuesday after a cabinet meeting in Chandigarh, where all seven items on the agenda received approval.
The sitting forms part of the Constitution Fortnight celebrations, a stretch of events built around the document that shaped the country's governance. For readers, it is a rare chance to see the state legislature take centre stage on a day dedicated to the rulebook of Indian democracy.
Saini also used the briefing to flag public spending. The state government has released Rs 86.95 crore in grants to 629 gaushalas, the cow shelters that look after cattle. The money is meant for feeding animals, arranging fodder and building sheds, a move that puts rural animal care squarely on the policy map.
The chief minister then turned his fire on Punjab. He said the BJP would form the next government in the neighbouring state and accused both Congress and AAP of breaking promises. He claimed AAP had pledged jobs to 25 lakh people but had not shown how many young people actually found work during its five years in power. He also said the party had let down farmers and women on promised financial help, and alleged that the Punjab government was pressuring organisers of his political programmes there. He took a shot at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, saying Mann had stayed away from his Dhuri constituency for five years.
On stubble burning, Saini argued that Haryana has outperformed Punjab, with fewer incidents reported. He said the state pays farmers Rs 1,200 per acre as an incentive to manage crop residue and has supplied agricultural machinery to more than 1.5 lakh farmers. He challenged AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to name the concrete steps his party has taken on the issue in Punjab, noting that Kejriwal had raised it while the party was out of power there.
Ahead of Diwali, Saini urged residents to back Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Vocal for Local' call. He asked people to buy indigenous goods and earthen lamps made by local artisans and traders, a message that turns the festive shopping season into a question of where your money goes.
